Current HistoryIn today's world, we always see advertisements. Whether it's promoting a new car brand, lite beer, or even an insurance commercial. Ads are everywhere, and unavoidable. Although some commercials use this to their advantage. Safe-E likes to take the approach of using an icon, such as Erkut from Safe-E. We see other examples like this from Flo from Progressive, Jake from Statefarm, John Stamos "Don't be like this me," from DirecTV. Safe-E uses this as a hook, intended to be a little comedic but to engage the public about what can really happen when using the internet as a social gateway. Currently, this is the day and age of advanced technology. It surrounds us everywhere we go. We can't go 100 ft. without seeing someone holding a smartphone. With that comes being more connected with those we aren't able to contact face to face. Safe-E campaigns this, and really tries to emphasize the dangers(even though there can be positive outcomes). Connections to Current Events
All the events below connect with Safe-E's campaign because they all show a piece of social activism, and how easy it is for information to be spread. Even though they are in different genres like YouTube, movies, political campaigns, they all show a larger message to get something done. Safe-E is for internet safety, Andrea Russett is for clean water in Africa, Cyberbully is to stop cyberbullying, #Blacklivesmatter is for social justice and equality, KONY2012 is to return all the children back home from Joseph Kony, and Catfish is to reveal online identity to create a safer environment. They all use some type of technology to get their message across on a global scale to help their movement thrive.
